Happy Halloween!

31 Oct

When a teenager comes to your door, please give them candy without saying, “Aren’t you too old to be doing this?” They could be out doing much worse. I would rather have them knocking on my door than have them engage in dangerous/destructive behaviors. Let them be kids as long as they can. They are already growing up too fast.
Also, please don’t refuse a child candy because they aren’t dressed up. Some children have autism or sensory issues that make dressing up highly uncomfortable, if not unbearable. And some families might not be able to afford costumes at all…
One last thing, size doesn’t always determine mental age or special needs.

Mer asked what am I going to wear while passing out candy?  Do I need to wear a costume?  Have I ever worn a costume while passing out candy?  Nope!  And that isn’t going to change this year…but I will have a very special puppy with me.  More at the end of the blog about Maxie’s costume.

Vested for the Fall

27 Oct

I never thought Fall would arrive.  At least here in Chicago.  We’ve had unseasonably warm weather here and temperatures that have rarely dipped below 70 degrees.  Well, fall has arrived…and with a vengeance.  Cold weather, crisp air, falling leaves and sadly, some chilly rain.  But no worries, this means I can bring out some of my favorite fall fashion finds.  One being, the “puffer vest”…Or “quilted vests”, but I like Puffer.  The good news about these vests, is most are not truly “puffer” vests, as the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters (original one) pops to mind.  A puffer vest, without too much puff. A quilted vest, and one that we can refer to as a Puffer Vest.

What I find in wearing these vests, don’t wear anything too bulky underneath.  When something has the word “puffy” in the title, I’d tend to steer away from overly bulky sweaters and sweatshirts underneath.  But that’s just me…someone who isn’t looking to appear more “puffy”.

A Turtleneck; Flannel; Blouse; Light Sweater…all good options.

What I most like about these vests, is because the arms aren’t cloaked, it’s almost like you aren’t wearing a coat.  #Freedom. I also don’t button (or zip) up the vest. Light and airy! 😉

Wear it open.  Don’t button or zip up.  Again, wear it open.

Also, pair with a cute scarf and you are good to go.  Hello Fall!

Will totally wear this to a Bears game!

Denim shirts are all the rage, but not with me.

Just ordered myself a Navy Vest.  Will be all decked out for the Bears v Packers game!

Army green is a great neutral.

Complete with Hunters.

Monochromatic with a cute hat.

Love, love, love this pop of Yellow!

We ❤ Fall

I think this is one of my favorite looks.

There is another blog devoted to styling your puffy vest.  I borrowed a picture from this blog.  Some looks may not be quite “Dressed to a T”, in my opinion, but again this is Dressed to a T, but you may find you fancy them.

Thank You Cubs for a Great Year!

20 Oct

Let’s not be sad we didn’t make it to the World Series.  Let’s be grateful we made it to the NLCS, three years in a row.  That’s phenomenal!  Let’s celebrate game 5 of the NLDS which proved to be almost as stressful as game 7 of the 2016 World Series.  I’m so happy I was able to watch that game with Mer Mer and Paddy, even though that caused me to get 2.5 hours of sleep the night before a crack of dawn flight.  So worth it!

I’m over the moon I was able to attend a NLCS playoff game with two of my favorites and our enthusiastic Cubs fan and designated driver.  #LastMinutePlansAreTheBest!  The Cubs may have lost that game (first playoff game that I’ve ever attended, in person, that they did Not win) but what a night it was.  What a train ride it was, complete with Veuve Cliquot and non-stop laughter.  What a year it has been, watching our Cubs complete with a variety of libations and non-stop laughter.  I loved reading what everyone posted and how, once again, everyone was a Cubs fan!  #FlyTheW!

Thank you to Carl Edwards Junior (CEJ) for giving me and others, some of our best material this year:

“CEJ is in the bullpen….NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”

“I have a cruise booked Thursday and it’s non-refundable.  Put in Carl Edwards Junior” @ Joe Madden

Do not run onto the field to stop him from getting to the mound @TerryOBrien, I repeat, do NOT approach the mound. – TLS

“CEJ! Oh No”! – Mer Mer

That being said, CEJ is as good guy.  He’s had some great games and pitched in Game 7 of last year’s World Series.  I believe he may have become a victim of Joe Madden’s over-managing his bullpen.  I love this article he (CEJ)  wrote…WARNING, it will make you cry.  Carl Edwards Jr. may just be my very favorite Cubs player. ❤

Why I Fly The W

My friend Jane posted this and I love this so much, she said I could use this:

2 years ago I was heartbroken when the Cubs lost this series. I’ll never forget last year when our eldest called to congratulate me on the Cubs World Series championship. He truly didn’t understand why I was crying the morning after. “ I truly never thought I would see this day!” I am a Chicago sports fan. I don’t waiver. I was born in Wrigleyville and my heart will always be there. My heart sank tonight as the innings went by. Top of the 9th Jessica texted me “ There’s always last year “. I love my girl who’s glass is always 3/4 full! Never want to hear again there’s always next year!!! I have no doubt
108 years will not pass before we see the banner flying above Wrigley 💙.

Amen Jane and Amen Jessica!

Let’s rejoice that the Cubs won the World Series in 2016, which remains one of the happiest nights of my life.  A night I shared with my darling daughter (and Patrick via text) and an evening and a series I shall never, ever forget.

Even Maxie got into the spirit!  #CubsPuppa

Our first game of the season.  Cold, rainy, but so much fun!!

Yet another reminder why I don’t wear baseball hats.  🙂

It’s always fun to relive last year…a little jaunt down memory lane:

Game 1 of the NLDS with Connie.  One of the most fun nights of my life!

Just the gals.

It really was our year!

Field Museum getting into the Cubs groove.

Yeah…winning is pretty damn fun.

So is attending the World Series parade with my #1 gal.

Don’t worry Cubs fans…there’s always last year…and next year!!

Thank you Cubs!  Cheers to next year.  It’s gonna be our year!

Go Bears!  I have put away my Cubs sweatshirts, jersey and t-shirts.  I have changed back my profile pictures.  I am moving on!  And I shall go back to blogging about Fashion, Life and any thing that happens to cross through my mind…now that I got my October back!  Carol is getting her groove back and I’m getting my October back.  I’m good with that. 😉

Time to Move on

13 Oct

It’s time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It’s time to move on, it’s time to get going

Broken skyline, movin’ through the airport
She’s an honest defector
Conscientious objector
Now her own protector
Broken skyline, which way to love land
Which way to something better
Which way to forgiveness
Which way do I go

It’s time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It’s time to move on, it’s time to get going

Sometime later, getting the words wrong
Wasting the meaning and losing the rhyme
Nauseous adrenalin
Like breakin’ up a dogfight
Like a deer in the headlights
Frozen in real time
I’m losing my mind

It’s time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It’s time to move on, it’s time to get going

Thank you, Tom Petty.  Wise words.  Wise words, indeed.  I last saw Tom Petty, in concert, in 2008.  I remember that concert, quite fondly.  The kids were with us, though in a different section. 🙂 They are also Tom Petty fans.  Everyone loves Tom Petty. I’m still in disbelief at his passing.

The Bears may be 1-4, however, we could be 3-1.  Two of our losses could have been a W.  I’m okay with that.  And I’m okay with getting home at midnight on a school night, because it was a Great night!!

Sleepless in Chicago, 3.0.  The Cubs… I’m penning this before a crack of dawn flight, so that’s gonna be another blog.  Because my heart can’t take much more of this.  By the time this blog is published, I will have enjoyed 2 coffees in the American Airlines Admiral’s Club…I mean, what a game.  Great win!  Go Cubs Go!!  Bring on the Dodgers!  And a cardiologist for me, please. 💙💙💙

Happiest of Birthdays Carolyn!

xoxo,

T.

As they do every year during the holiday shopping season, things can drastically change. Certain stores may decide to open on Thanksgiving this year, and other retailers may decide to close.  For now, this is the current list, which will no doubt be added to, based on the positive vibe people are feeling regarding closing the stores.  Plus, there’s no pressure to have to run to these stores on Thanksgiving Day, trying to procure the best deals.

But that’s Online Shopping!

Let’s give Thanks to these stores!  And let’s give Thanks for people who do the right thing!  It’s called ThanksGiving, not ThanksShopping.  🙂

Let’s Go Cubs and Let’s Go Bears!!

Such a sad week…

And at the end of the day…

Spread love.

Why no Blog today?

29 Sep

Packers 35.  Bears 14.

I’ve been consoling this poor girl, so didn’t get a chance to Pen my blog!  Maxie is not pleased with the Bears performance, nor of John Fox and his “poor” (We’re being kind) coaching skills.

The good news is the Cubs are back in the Playoffs!

Maxine is happy.  As am I.  Thanks Dr. Stevie for the blogspiration. 😉

Go Cubs!
