Time to Move on

13 Oct

It’s time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It’s time to move on, it’s time to get going

Broken skyline, movin’ through the airport
She’s an honest defector
Conscientious objector
Now her own protector
Broken skyline, which way to love land
Which way to something better
Which way to forgiveness
Which way do I go

It’s time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It’s time to move on, it’s time to get going

Sometime later, getting the words wrong
Wasting the meaning and losing the rhyme
Nauseous adrenalin
Like breakin’ up a dogfight
Like a deer in the headlights
Frozen in real time
I’m losing my mind

It’s time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It’s time to move on, it’s time to get going

Thank you, Tom Petty.  Wise words.  Wise words, indeed.  I last saw Tom Petty, in concert, in 2008.  I remember that concert, quite fondly.  The kids were with us, though in a different section. 🙂 They are also Tom Petty fans.  Everyone loves Tom Petty. I’m still in disbelief at his passing.

The Bears may be 1-4, however, we could be 3-1.  Two of our losses could have been a W.  I’m okay with that.  And I’m okay with getting home at midnight on a school night, because it was a Great night!!

Sleepless in Chicago, 3.0.  The Cubs… I’m penning this before a crack of dawn flight, so that’s gonna be another blog.  Because my heart can’t take much more of this.  By the time this blog is published, I will have enjoyed 2 coffees in the American Airlines Admiral’s Club…I mean, what a game.  Great win!  Go Cubs Go!!  Bring on the Dodgers!  And a cardiologist for me, please. 💙💙💙

Happiest of Birthdays Carolyn!

xoxo,

T.

Great Tom Petty song! Perfect for his tribute. I was lucky to see him perform for the first time this summer at Wrigley Field. It was a fabulous show. He will be missed. Go Bears…Go Cubs!
