Grace, a bit of Valentine’s Day…and Happy 19th Birthday POB!

Grace:  simple elegance or refinement of movement.  Graces : skills that are needed for behaving in a polite way in social situations.

Grace…the world needs more of this.  Desperately. And it’s never right or acceptable to hurt someone back.  Just for the record. 🙂

What I’m watching

The People v. OJ Simpson – An American Crime Story – Two comments.  I cannot imagine Kris Kardashian approved David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian.  And for that I say Bravo!  We are two episodes into this and I’m hooked.  Even though I feel like I lived through this, because I did, I am still hooked.  Happy to share this with Meredith who is also hooked!

What I’m reading

Still Alice by Lisa Genova – I saw the movie as well and the book hasn’t disappointed.

I want to be Her! How friends and strangers helped shape my style by Andrea Linett – Fun read about the journey in finding your style.  More of a reference book, actually.

What I’m cooking – Recipe of the Week Meredith is hooked on these and they literally take me less than 5 minutes.

Cheddar and Gruyère Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

a5f7eec5feb064a97aa38e38a1f0391b

INGREDIENTS

3 ounces cheddar cheese, cut into ½-inch cubes, at room temperature

3 ounces Gruyère cheese, cut into ½-inch cubes, at room temperature

1 tablespoon chives, finely chopped

¼ teaspoon coarse black pepper

4 pieces sourdough bread, sliced ⅓ inch thick

2 tablespoons mayonnaise
DIRECTIONS

1. In a food processor, combine the cheddar and Gruyère and pulse until a smooth paste forms. Transfer to a mixing bowl and fold in the chives and black pepper.

2. Place bread on a clean work surface. Spread a thin layer of the mayonnaise on one side of each piece of bread. Flip 2 of the slices so that the mayonnaise side faces down and use a rubber spatula or a butter knife to evenly spread the cheese over the 2 slices. Close the sandwiches with remaining 2 slices of bread, leaving the mayonnaise side facing up.

3. Place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add sandwiches and cook, flipping sandwiches occasionally until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer sandwiches to a cutting board and allow to rest for a minute before slicing in half. Serve.

*** the key here is using mayonnaise instead of butter on the bread.   I also use French Bread and slice it very thin, and make mini grilled cheese sandwiches.

Make it a bi-lingual or better yet, a multi-lingual Valentine’s Day!

52 Things I Love About You!

You can totally pull this off.  Quite last-minute!  Deck of cards.  2 binder rings and write “sweet nothings” on paper or labels and stick on the cards!  Snazzy!!

These would also be super easy to do.  Small circle pretzels, Hershey chocolate kiss.  Pop in the oven for 5 minutes at 300 degrees.  Remove from oven when chocolate begins to melt and put the conversation heart onto the softened chocolate.

How lucky am I that I received a loving box of cupcakes and macaroons!  And, gluten-free, to boot!  Too pretty to eat, but I think I’ll make an exception!  Thank you S!  <3

Song of the Day:  Ooh Child by the Five Stairsteps

O-o-h child things are gonna get easier
O-o-h child things ‘ll get brighter
O-o-h child things are gonna get easier
O-o-h child things ‘ll get brighter

Someday we’ll get it together and we’ll get it undone
Someday when the world is much brighter
Someday we’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Someday when the world is much lighter

Happy Birthday Patrick!  And just like that…You’re 19!  Love you honey!

A few Football notes.  Most boring Superbowl ever.  But happy Peyton Manning won.  I truly meant no harm when I eluded that perhaps Tom Brady is/was a cheater.  As I say, It’s DressedtoaT and not DressedtoaM.  Where there’s smoke there’s fire.  However, I shall acquiesce that Tom Brady was “cleared of all charges”.  And speaking of Ross from Friends…oh wait, I already did. 🙂  And lastly, the fact the Chicago Bears did Not resign Matt Forte, after we are stuck, I mean are darned lucky to have Jay Cutler through 2019, is further proof the Bears don’t want to win.  I don’t say that lightly.  Why in the world would they  get rid of their 2nd all time-leading rusher, behind Walter Payton?

“These decisions are never easy, especially given what Matt has meant to our team and community,” Bears general manager Ryan Pace said in the statement. “We have a tremendous amount of respect for him. Matt is one of the all-time great Bears and did an excellent job for us on and off the field last season. He was a tremendous teammate. We thank him for his professionalism and wish him the very best as he continues his career.”

I mean, I can’t even…#UGH.
