The 14-Shirt Wardrobe

4 Apr

First Monday of the Month…MANic Monday!

So…a 14-shirt wardrobe.  Say what?  Clearly, I’m speaking to the guys (as women need far more than 14 shirts 🙂 )…You, the Men, however  truly need 14 dress shirts.  Dress shirts are an essential to a man’s wardrobe.

The 14 Shirt Wardrobe

• 14 shirts allow you to have 7 at the cleaners and 7 in the closet.    Makes sense, right?

White

• 2 Straight Collars

• 1 Spread Collar

• 1 Button Down Collar

2 Fancy Patterns (subtle gray stripe & subtle gray/blue check, or paisley)

Blue

• 2 Straight Collars

• 1 Spread Collar

• 1 Button Down Collar

1 Pink or Off-White (Ecru)

1 Light Lavender

2 Contrasting Collar and Cuffs

Contrast cuff and collar are a great addition to casual and dressy casual occasions. Although not generally appropriate for the work place, they offer a great option for casual days at the office like Fridays.  It’s easy and fun to alternate shirt fabric choices with cuff and collar choices.

This is a very subtle collar and cuff…

And that’s it…14 shirts.  Easy.  And consider it done.

And another gentle reminder:

• Ties should complement the suit or coat, and shirts should complement the tie.

And lastly, I love, love, love this look:

PS – No one looks good in a short-sleeved dress shirt. 🙂

Coming Wednesday…Update on “Of Mice and Terry”.
